Young Actors Beginners and Intermediate Workshop

Via Forman is a Los Angeles based Actress, singer and educator. You may have recently seen her in Phantom Projects’ James and The Giant Peach as Spider. After working in Theatre throughout her youth, Via found she had a passion for mentoring and coaching young actors and has now been teaching a multitude of subjects for 4+ years! In 2023 she was able to help Act Out Theatre Co., a non-profit Theater in Long Beach, build their very own Arts Workshop series as well as an after-school Theatre program. She then went on to teach at the Aquarium of the Pacific and now works as a Wildlife Educator in Los Angeles. Via is so happy to be working with Phantom Projects and cannot wait to bring her Theatre knowledge and experience to La Habra’s young actors!

6 Week Course

Beginners Ages 7-12: Saturdays 9:30am-11:00am
Final class is a recital at our rehearsal hall!

In this class students will explore the basics of acting for the stage through scene work, theatre games, and watching past productions! We will explore different skills such as memorizing, expressing with our faces and bodies, how to take notes in our script, and everything else you need to know for rehearsals and being on the stage! This class is best suited for; Young actors who have never participated in theatre and are interested in starting, Young actors who have participated in theatre and are looking to gain more practical rehearsal and performance skills.

6 Week Course

Intermediate/Advanced Ages 7-12: Saturdays 11:30am-1:00pm
Final class is a recital at our rehearsal hall
Young actors who are comfortable on stage and have experience memorizing lines should consider enrolling in Intermediate/Advanced. This is an upper level class best suited for young actors who have been on stage before and are looking to focus on monologues, audition techniques, movement skills and other advanced performance techniques through individual and partnered scene work! Actors will choose their scenes and monologues in class to perform on recital day.

6 Week Course

Beginner/Intermediate Ages 13-17: Mondays 5:00pm-6:30pm
Final class is a recital at our rehearsal hall
This acting workshop will use monologues and scene work to explore different acting skills that will aid you in future stage performances. Actors will choose their scenes and monologues in class. We will also discuss important rehearsal skills and audition techniques for actors who have little to no prior experience. This class is best suited for actors who have no theatre experience or actors who have some experience and want to have more practice on stage.

Are you a young actor looking to develop your creative voice? Do you have a young actor and want to provide them creative enrichment? Whether you’ve been on stage before or are just starting out, our Young Actors Beginners Workshop provides valuable knowledge from Theatre Professionals and an opportunity for hands-on experience!

This fun-filled 6 week course is designed for any young actors (7-12 and 13-17) who are looking to gain a deeper understanding of the art of Acting for the stage, all experience levels are welcome! Young Actors will develop skills such as improv, character development, performance technique and more using scene work and dramatic exercises! And lots of games! The first 5 weeks will focus on the different principles and fundamentals of Acting with a showcase opportunity on the 6th and final week.

Who: Ages 7-12 and 13-17.

What to bring: Wear clothes and shoes you can move in. ALWAYS bring water and snacks, lunch is not necessary. 

**The instructor will provide scenes and monologues but you may bring scenes or monologues in for consideration.

When: Each 6-week Course concludes with a recital at our theatre in La Habra 

Where: Our classes will take place at our rehearsal hall: 15517 Phoebe Ave, La Mirada

Please arrive 15 mins early to check in so we may begin class right on time.

GENERAL CLASS POLICIES

There are no refunds for missed classes.

Cancellation Policy: After a student enrolls and payment is received in full, a refund will only be issued if cancelled 14 days before the class. Otherwise, a credit can be issued for future classes or tickets to a performance.

There will be no guests permitted in the classroom. Parents can wait for their students in our lobby.

To ensure the quality of our classes, students will not be admitted beyond 10 minutes after a class start time. A student will be considered absent and no refund/credit will be issued.

A disruptive student can be removed from a class at our discretion. No refund or credit will be issued in this scenario.
