The Production Team
Héctor Martínez Morales is originally from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He studied composition in the United States as well as in Paris, France. His works have been performed throughout the U.S. and Mexico. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras and lectured at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Tufts University; and the Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. Martínez Morales also has a performance background in Latin-American folk music. He is an educator and freelance composer based out of Somerville, Mass.
Roxanne Schroeder-Arce is an artist, scholar and teacher. She is currently associate dean of fine arts education and associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas at Austin. Her plays are published by Dramatic Publishing. She has published articles in journals such as Youth Theatre Journal, International Journal for Education & the Arts and Theatre Topics, and chapters in books including Latinos and American Popular Culture. She taught high-school theatre in Texas for six years and served as artistic and education director of Teatro Humanidad in Austin for several years. Schroeder-Arce is on the board of directors of Teatro Vivo and the board of elders of the Indigenous Cultures Institute. She is a proud alumna of Emerson College, the University of Texas at Austin and the Keene State College Upward Bound Program. She grew up in Springfield, Vt.

Carmencita, de diez años, sueña con ser cantante de mariachi y algún día unirse a un espectáculo con su padre. Sin embargo, su padre se aferra a una antigua tradición familiar de mariachis exclusivamente masculinos.
Cuando la maestra de Carmencita le ofrece un libro sobre una mariachi, todo cambia para “Cita” al ver la posibilidad de que su sueño se haga realidad. ¿Podrá celebrar su propia herencia y ampliar la visión del mundo que tenía su padre? Mariachi Girl es un edificante drama familiar bilingüe sobre cómo alcanzar tus sueños y está lleno de vibrante música de mariachi original.





Lola Lopez (Carmencita) is very grateful to be a part of her second show with the Phantom Projects Theatre Group, Mariachi Girl after her previous role as Violet in A Charlie Brown Christmas. She’s also had the honor of portraying characters such as Elle Woods Legally Blonde, Ronette Little Shop of Horrors, #7 The Wolves, and Marty Grease. Similar to Cita’s desire to be a Mariachi, acting and singing has always been Lola’s greatest passion. She is so very excited to share her and Cita’s love of performance, music, and storytelling on stage.
Andrew Landeros (Danny) is an actor based in Chino Hills, California. He graduated from UCI with a B.A. in Theatre and has been acting since high school. When not on a theatre stage he spends his time mentoring young actors, and teaching history to elementary students through interactive performance. His recent theatre credits include Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors and Davey in Disney’s Newsies. He is delighted to be making his debut with Phantom Projects and excited to bring the role of Danny to life. He would like to thank his friends, family, and mentors for all their support and guidance throughout his acting career. A special thanks to his dog Appa who serves as his scene partner and critic. He is currently seeking representation. He hopes you enjoy the show!
Luis Bernal (Luis), a seasoned actor and musician with a 20-year career, shines across film, television, commercials, and voice dubbing. Noteworthy recent credits include “Candy Cane Lane” on Amazon, “The Snitch Cartel” on Netflix, and the emotionally charged “Canto para no llorar.” His versatility extends to international projects like the music video “El Ondeado” and collaborations with brands like Universal and Goodwill. Bernal’s voice work spans diverse films and TV series, showcasing his adaptability. His international presence attests to his talent and ability to connect with audiences worldwide. In the dynamic entertainment landscape, Luis Bernal stands as a versatile and accomplished artist, leaving a lasting impact with his compelling performances.
Jessica K Hayes (Mrs. Parker) is thrilled to be portraying a role that is true to her heritage! This one is for her late grandparents, Raphael and Linda Rios. After receiving her Theater Degree from Cal State University Long Beach, Jessica has been singing, improvising, and writing, and step-touching all over the Southern California. These days she can be found singing with Heavenly Voices Productions, Velocity A Capella, or in her acoustic duo with her partner in crime, Joseph Ott. When she is not performing she can be found vocal coaching or working as a Certified Massage Therapist.
Coral Alonso (Carmen) is a proud Mexican American that loves both of her native countries and the arts. She is very blessed to be a full time musican and actor. She is based in Los Ángeles, CA.
Oscar Rivas (Jose), a rising star in the realm of music, is now venturing into the exciting world of acting, bringing a wealth of musical and singing expertise to the stage. As a seasoned musician and vocalist, Oscar has honed his craft over the years, showcasing unparalleled talent in various musical ensembles. Oscar not only possesses a rich practical background but also pursued formal education to refine their skills. With tenor vocal lessons under Professor Juan Castaneda at Riverside City College and baritone vocal lessons with private Maestro Gualtiero Negrini, Oscar is committed to continuous growth and mastery. Oscar’s transition into acting marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, where his musical prowess seamlessly intertwines with the world of theater. Audiences can anticipate a captivating performance, driven by a passion for both melody and emotion, as Oscar begins to take center stage in the realms of music and acting.
